With reference to your despatch Confidential (2)

Salvage operations on S.S. "Jin Kai Maru".

of May 22nd.

I agree to refusal of application of Japanese Company.

In order to avoid any dispute on the point of most-favoured-

nation treatment, I suggest that prohibition on salvaging

the vessel in question should extend to all foreign

Companies and that only a British Company should be allowed

to undertake the work.

Despatch follows by mail.
